Also known as Yamada Jozan the 4th. Born in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture. Inherited the family business and aspired to become a potter. Studied under his father, Jozan. Graduated from Tokoname High School, Department of Ceramics. Received the Chozo Prize for Encouragement at the Chozo Prize Ceramic Art Exhibition and the Chozo Prize. Selected for the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition and the Tokai Traditional Craft Exhibition. Solo exhibitions at Nihonbashi, Nagoya Mitsukoshi, Nagoya Hana Gallery, Meitetsu and Ginza Kuroda Toen. Works in Southeast Asian style, high-fired unglazed ceramics, and red clay.
