Born in Shigaraki. In 1946, completed his studies at the Kyoto National Ceramics Laboratory. He then studied under Naokata IV, focusing on tea bowls. Assumed the Naokata name in 1976. Selected for the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition and Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition. Held an exhibition with his father at Tokyo Mitsukoshi, and personal exhibitions at Kyoto Takashimaya and other locations. Member of the Japan Kogei Association.
