Born in Iida, Nagano Prefecture. Graduated from Tokyo Craft Design Institute, and became independent in 1976. Awarded the Special Prize at the Ibaraki Art Festival Exhibition and the Kaiyu Prize. Has had solo exhibitions at Mito Shimizu, Akasaka Ken Gallery, Shibuya Seibu Department Store, and others. Focuses on high-fired unglazed ceramics, and brushwork.
