From Shizuoka Prefecture. Moved to Hachijo Island in 1950. Served in the Japan Self-Defence Force and studied under Aoki Shokichi from Hachijo Pottery starting in 1970. Joined the Mashiko Tsukamoto Ceramics Manufacturing Center in 1972. Set up independently in 1976. Established a pottery in Mashiko in 1982. Focuses on solo exhibitions.
