From Tokyo. Graduated from Hosei University. Set up Bokuto-gama kiln in 1952. He was a member of the Sodeisha association and a lecturer at Musashino Art University and the Tokyo University of Education before building a climbing kiln in Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture, in 1975. Focuses on solo exhibitions, such as at Shinjuku Isetan and elsewhere. Mainly creates kohiki (white powdered-looking ceramics) and mishima style (ceramics with corded designs).
