From Waga District, Iwate Prefecture. Graduated from Waseda University. Went to Arita, Saga Prefecture, afterwards and learned pottery at Tatebayashi Gen’emon Kiln and Okugawa Tadaemon Kiln. Studied under Inoue Manji from 1971. Set up independently in 1981 and established Gakuyo Kiln. Selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition and others. Has had solo exhibitions in Saga C Art Salon, Minamiaoyama Green G, and Hakata and Tottori Daimaru. Regular member of the Japan Kogei Association. Focuses on white and blue-and-white porcelain.
