In 1962, he learned pottery techniques in Matsuyama and later studied Raku ware on his own. He visited various potteries and learned the essence of tea ceremony pottery through the friendship of masters in Kyoto. In 1981, he founded the Rakuyo Ceramic Study Group in Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture.
