Studied under his father Seiuemon. He mainly produces traditional tea ceremony pottery in a cellar kiln, a twin-body cellar kiln, and a climbing kiln. He aims to create powerful Shigaraki using rough clay and making the best use of the natural glaze of splitting pine wood firing.
