Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Musashino Art University in Tokyo, and studied under Chotaro III Ariyama Ryuseki (1908-1999) in Ibusuki, Kagoshima in 1965. Began training at Ginsho Kiln in 1970. He has been trained at Ginsho Kiln since 1970, and has been awarded prizes at the Southern Japan Art Exhibition, the Kagoshima Ceramic Art Exhibition, and the Kyushu Contemporary Craft Exhibition. His work is mainly based on traditional Satsuma techniques, especially kuro-satsuma work.
