Born in Tokyo, graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1955 with a degree in oil painting, and has held solo exhibitions at Kinokuniya Gallery in Shinjuku every other year since 1976. Presides over Matsubara Studio, a ceramics school. No affiliation. Works with Shino, Kizeto, Oribe, Tenmoku, and celadon.
