Born in Kyoto, he left his job at an electric company in 1970. He was fascinated by the work of Hamada Shoji and entered Mashiko in 1973, where he trained at Tsukamoto Pottery. His work has been selected for the New Master Crafts Exhibition, the Musashino Exhibition of Japanese Traditional Crafts, and others. He mainly works with salt glaze using a climbing kiln, Iga-style natural glaze, and high-fired unglazed ceramics.
