Studied under Matsui Seizan from around 1945, and aspired to become a potter.
In 1975, he built a down-draft kiln in Moriyama, Morimachi, Shizuoka Prefecture, and became independent. He has held several solo exhibitions every year, and produces tableware, tea ceremony utensils, and flower vases. He works mainly with ash and iron glazes using local materials.
