Takegoshi Taizan III. Upon graduating from college, he started down the path of ceramics. He was selected for the first time to exhibit at the 2nd Annual Japan Contemporary Art Exhibition in 1968, and he exhibited at the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition and the Ishikawa Contemporary Art Exhibition, etc. He received the Special Prize at the 35th Ishikawa Contemporary Art Exhibition in 1979, the 12th Japan Fine Arts Exhibition Special Award in 1981, and the 18th Japan Fine Arts Exhibition in 1986. In 1989, he became a member of the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition. In the same year, the Japan Artisans Association was established and he was appointed director, enthusiastically presenting his works at their exhibition. He received the Grand Prize at the 4th annual exhibition in 1994 and the Prime Minister’s Award at the 7th annual exhibition in 1997.
His works have been purchased by government officials and the Takamatsu Residence. In addition, he participated in the Berlin Arts Festival and held many solo exhibitions. He produced a wide range of works, from decorative works such as vases, incense burners, and decorative plates, to those for regular use such as tableware and sake sets. In addition, he also did commissions of spacial art pieces such as monuments and murals. He won the 2009 Japan Art Academy Prize.
