A Kutani ware potter of the Shichihira Kiln. In 1961, he was the first potter in Japan to create the technique of translucent “overglaze gold leaf,” which overlays a thin layer of glaze over top gold leaf decoration. Currently, the Kutani ware artist Yoshita Minori is certified as a Living National Treasure for his use of this technique.
