Born in Nakano, Tokyo. He graduated from Meiji Gakuin University, and trained at Echizen Pottery Village in 1973. In 1978, he opened the Echizen Kozan Kiln, and in 1979, he built a Semi-ground type hole kiln to produce tableware for tea ceremonies. In addition to pottery classes, the studio also offers soba noodle making, stone oven pizza, and bread making to allow visitors to experience food, pottery, and the nature of Shizuoka.
