In 1983, he graduated from the Saga Art College, Department of Ceramics, and the following year, he completed the Ceramics Course at the Kyoto Oriented Experiment Station. After that, he worked as a lecturer at the same university, and in 2001, he completed his master’s degree at the University of New South Wales. He died prematurely in his studio in Sasayama at the age of 44, leaving behind many works of art that were highly acclaimed overseas.
