Born in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture. His real name is Isuke. Influenced by Sato Takashi, a well-known local potter and lover of old Bizen ware, he learned to make pottery on the potter’s wheel. In 1969, under the guidance of Bizen potter Sakakibara Tsutomu, he built a climbing kiln in Onomichi and began making pottery in earnest. He has been awarded prizes at the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition, the Issuikai Exhibition, the Chugoku International Exhibition, the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition, and others. Solo exhibitions at Hiroshima Mitsukoshi and others.
