Born in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture. Started pottery making in 1964, and established the Chikuo Kiln in 1965. Built a kiln in Kamo-gun, Gifu Prefecture in 1973 to study Shino-ware. Awarded the Kanagawa Contemporary Craft Exhibition Memorial Prize. Selected for the Japan Contemporary Craft Exhibition and others. Solo exhibitions at Shinjuku Odakyu, Fukuoka Iwataya, etc. Member of TOTO. Focuses on Shino-ware, white slip ware and scorched surface coloring.
