Born in Tokyo. He graduated from the Industrial Design Department of the Tokyo Higher Technical School, entered the Tokyo University of the Arts, and after dropping out, he would become involved in such work as reproducing paintings. He moved to Kansai in 1936, and took teaching jobs in Himeji, Toyooka, and Tatsuno, etc. He built a kiln in Uozumi, Akashi in 1957, and continued to produce in the area of Akashi until his death.
