Sainen Akio 西念秋夫

Born in Kishiwada, Osaka. Studied under Kato Muzuji. After working at the Shinohara Ceramics Research Institute, opened the Nishinen Research Institute in 1971. Established the Todoroki kiln as an annex institute in 1978. Later used refined Senshu soil for the reconstruction of the old Toemura kiln. Recipient of the Traditional Crafts Kinki Branch Exhibition Nikkei Honorable Mention. Selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. Vice chairman of Japanese Arts and Crafts. Primarily focused on Sue-ware and earthenware.
