Born in Kamiina District, Nagano. After graduating from Aichi’s Seto Pottery School, he went to Tokyo. In 1924, he established the Tono Kiln in Tokyo’s Nakanogawa.
He won nominations at the 9th Imperial Exhibition and from the Nihon Bijutsuin. He assumed the positions of Nitten’s Councillor and then Totokai’s President.
