Born in Kyoto. Graduated from Kyoto College of Art and Design, where he majored in Western-style painting. Built the kiln in Kani, Gifu Prefecture in 1959. Fired Shino, Setoguro and Mino and Iga in a down-draft kiln. In 1964, he built a large kiln in the Momoyama style. Served as a member of the Kani-cho cultural property council. Held his first solo exhibition at the Nagoya Oriental.
