While working as a potter’s wheel technician at the Shigaraki Kiln Research Studio, he also made his own wares and presented them at open exhibitions, and in 1977 he won the Chichibunomiya Cup at the Japan Pottery Exhibition and was a promising new star in Shigaraki ware but unfortunately died young in 1981.
