Under the tutelage of his father Rokuro. Graduated from Bizen High School. Started working on pottery from 1971. Learned firing under Kaneshige Michiaki. Built his first kiln in 1977, and had an attention-drawing solo exhibition at Kuroda Pottery in Ginza.
