Born in Sanyo, Akaiwa-gun, Okayama prefecture. Graduated from Wake Kagaya High School. Later abandoned his classes to study ceramics under Ohira Seinosuke. Constructed a kiln in Shizutani in Bizen in 1978 and went independent. Focused primarily on hidasuki and gomahada ceramics.
