Began his training working with pottery molds in Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture, in 1947. Started up production of Kiyomizu-ware in Imakumano, Higashiyama, Kyoto, in 1952 and established Mito Ceramics Factory at Sennyuji Temple in 1956. Moved to the Shimizu Pottery Collective in 1973 and received the Kyoto City Traditional Industrial Technology Achievement Award in 1988. Known for producing tableware, sake sets, tea set, vases and other ceramics in the Kiyomizu style.
