From Hagi. Pen-name is Ryokuei. Graduated from Yamaguchi College of Arts. Studied sculptures under Kunimitsu Ato. Sought to engage in ceramics in 1972 and trained at Katayama Shugetsu’s kiln.
Started Ryokuei kiln in 1974. Studied under Yoshika Taibi and Yoshika Hatao. Won the President’s Award at the Japan Contemporary Craft Art Chugoku Exhibition. Selected for the Nitten Exhibition and other exhibitions.
His son, Sohei Matsuno, has taken over the kiln.
