From Tochigi Prefecture. Graduated from Ashikaga High School and the Faculty of Philosophy at Gakushuin University. First studied under Ogasawara Saiji in Mashiko. Later studied under Kondo Seisen in Sumiyama, Kyoto. Started the Shimotsuke Toen studio in Ashikaga in 1985. Selected for the Shinsho Craft Art Craft Art Exhibition. Held private exhibitions at the Kyoto Craft Center, the Senseido in Kanda, and other venues. Works focus on overglaze collages, celadon, and Gohon teacups.
