From Nishisonogi, Nagasaki. Dropped out of the Faculty of Engineering at Kanagawa University. Trained in Kyo ware in 1969 and later graduated from the Kyoto Prefectural Specialized Training Institute. Studied under Matsuda Kazan in 1971. Started a kiln in Bizen in 1981 and became independent. Made ceramics in order to turn Bizen ware into a craft art. Works focus on a sesame sheen.
