The Sixth Generation of the Kutani Pottery Kiln “Kamide Choemon Kiln.
Born in Ishikawa Prefecture, he graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2006 with a major in oil painting. Since the same year, as the successor of Kamide Choemon Kiln, a Kutani ware kiln established in 1879, he has been involved in many projects, product releases, and designs together with the artisans. 2014 saw the establishment of Kamide-Shigei, a limited liability company, and has been engaged in the full-scale management of the kiln. His main works include “FUEFUKI”, which is an arrangement of traditional patterns, the “JAIME HAYON×KUTANI CHOEMON” series, in which he invited a Spanish designer, and “KUTANI SEAL”, which utilizes Kutani porcelain transfer technology. At “HATCHi Kanazawa by THE SHARE HOTELS”, lighting and objects are produced by Kamide Choemon, and at “TSUGU Kyoto Sanjo by THE SHARE HOTELS”, a pop-up store “Kamide Keigo in Hokuriku / Kimura Hajime in Setouchi” (until November 30, 2019) is being held. As an individual, he also creates works using porcelain as a material, and is actively holding solo exhibitions. Also, he has designed a UNIQLO T-shirt in the original Japanese landscape.
