The second-born son of Ikeda Itsudo, a sculptor whose work was designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of his prefecture. Founded the Jonan kiln in 1974. Selected for Nitten five years in a row from 1976. Selected for and won awards at the Japan Contemporary Crafts Exhibition, and gained an exemption from examination. Since 1979, has appeared on NHK TV, NST, and BCN.
