Born in Fukuoka prefecture. Graduated from Waseda University. Studied under Shigaraki’s Tani Hosai and Masuko’s Mimura Hokudo. In 1978, he established the Asahi Ceramic Art Society in Yokohama, aiming to give creative education to new artists and the disabled, and won the Asahi Newspaper Award. Constructed an old style cellar kiln in 1986. Judge of the Kanagawa Fine Arts Association. Director of the International Modern Art Exposition. Primarily works with Yohen style.
