Higaki Soraku II was born in Kyoto as the eldest daughter of Higaki Shohaku, and opened the kiln with her husband, Higaki Soraku I, in Nishiyama, Kyoto in 1955.
In 1983, after her husband passed away, she assumed the name of Higaki Soraku II.

Higaki Soraku I
He had studied under his father, Higaki Shohaku I, inherited the Katsuragama kiln, mainly producing tea bowls.
