Born in Imbe, Okayama and studied under the master Mimura Tokei, who excelled in Shiro (white) Bizen, Iro (colored) Bizen, and other handcrafts, to learn these techniques. Excelled in spatula carving techniques and was a master of Bizen ware ceramic sculptures of politicians and soldiers (Inukai Tsuyoshi, Saigo Takamori, Nogi Maresuke, etc.) who thrived during the Meiji era in particular.
Won the Sixth Class Order of the Sacred Treasure in 1978.
