Born in Mie Prefecture. Graduated from Nihon University. Trained at Kokuji Pottery in Iwate Prefecture. Later completed Aichi Pottery Training School and Seto Branch of Nagoya Industrial Research Institute. Studied under Yamamoto Toshu and Yuichi of Bizen and Ito Asami of Seto. Became independent in 1982.
