Tai Taeko 田井妙子

1931-femaleBorn in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto Prefecture, she graduated from the Fukui Prefectural Ceramics Research Institute in 1968, and in the following year, she founded the pottery group “Myou no Kai”. In 1980, she opened the Myo Pottery Studio in Echizen Miyazaki Village. Held a three-person exhibition with Shigehiko and Tomoko in Ginza Matsuya Department Store and Fukuchiyama. Sonoda Noriko 園田教子

1941-femaleBorn in Kagoshima Prefecture. Completed the Kagoshima City Institute of Arts and Crafts, and built a kiln in Chiyoda, Yotsukaido City, Chiba Prefecture in 1980. She was awarded the Grand Prize at the Women’s Ceramic Art Exhibition and is a member. Soeda Razan 副田螺山

1931-arita porcelainBorn in Imari. Born in Imari, in the traditional Nabeshima domain kilns of Okawa-Nakayama, he is the 13th generation since Kizaemon I. He learned pottery techniques from his father, Kamoyama, and inherited the Gongen-dani Kiln.He mines potter’s clay from the Matsuura area to make clay, and uses the traditional Karatsu technique and washi-zome tequniqu to make mainly blue ceradon case. Soeda Washin 添田和信

1949-maleIn 1969, he trained at the Ureshino Kiln in Hizen, and later established the Soeda Kiln in Miyashi, Tsuyazaki-cho. He has been awarded prizes at the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition and others. He uses wax resist, iron painting, and high-fired unglazed ceramics to create his works. After graduating from high school, he completed a course in ceramic dolls for traditional industrial technicians at the Kyoto Industrial Research Institute. After working at Kyoto Pottery Works, he graduated from Musashino Art University in Tokyo. After returning home, taught art and ceramics at the Aomori Third School for the Disabled, and later worked as a part-time lecturer at a prefectural high school. 1940-maleAfter graduating from Aichi Pottery Training School, he trained at a pottery in Akazu, Seto, and returned to his hometown in 1969 to build a down-draft kiln at home. In 1972, he built a kiln in Sawa-gun, Gunma Prefecture. Selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, the New Works Exhibition, and the Musashino Exhibition.
