Tashiro Makoto 田代誠

1925-?maleBorn in Tokyo, he studied under Hamada Shoji from 1946 to 1950. In 1969, he built a kiln in Uji City, and received an Honorable Mention at the Japan Folk Art Museum Exhibition. He is a member of the Kokuga-kai Craft Club. Creates mainly decorative paintings, slip-ware, and ash glaze. (more…)

Tashiro Seijiuemon 15th 十五代 田代清治右衛門

1947-2011malesoma potteryAlso known as Tashiro Hokyo the 15th. His real name is Hideto. He is the eldest son of the Seijiuemon XIV of Fukushima-Soma-Koma-ware. After graduating from Tajimi Technical High School, he studied under Kato Takuo. In 1979, he assumed the name of the 15th generation. He was selected for the Nitten, Japan New Craft Exhibition, and the Kofu-kai Exhibition. Councilor of the Fukushima Prefecture Art Association. His main works are celadon porcelain, jun ware, iron painting, and crystal glaze. His kiln was destroyed in the 2011 earthquake and he died the same year. There was no successor, and Soma (more…)

Tajima Shoni 田島正仁

1948-malekutani porcelainBorn in Komatsu, Ishikawa Prefecture. Studied under Tokuda Masahiko. Won the Aichi Prefectural Governor’s Prize and the Foreign Minister’s Prize at Chunichi International Exhibition. He has been awarded prizes at the Japan Contemporary Craft Exhibition, the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition, the Kofu-kai Exhibition, the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, the Nitten Exhibition, the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition, and others. 1959-femaleBorn in Osaka. Graduated from Osaka University of Arts, majoring in ceramics. Worked as a deputy in a laboratory at Osaka University of Arts from 1982 to 1985, and later became independent. Selected for the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition, the Asahi Contemporary Craft Exhibition, and the Women’s Ceramic Art Exhibition. First solo exhibition at Gallery Haku, Osaka. Takemoto Ikuo 竹元郁雄

1940-malebizen potteryBorn in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki Prefecture. Studied under Fujiwara Yu in Bizen, and entered Miyazaki village in 1977, attracted by Echizen ancient pottery. In 1978, he built a kiln based on the excavation plans of the kiln site and named it Kumaganouen’dara-gama Kiln. Solo exhibitions at Kyoto Tea Ceremony Salon Gion, Ginza Matsuya Department Store, Nagoya Mitsukoshi Department Store, Kanazawa Yamato Department Store. Awarded the Japan Ceramic Society Prize. He has had solo exhibitions at Ginza Kuroda Toen, Gallery Kochukyo in Nihonbashi, Daimaru Department Store in Osaka, and Gallery Humanite in Nagoya. A community in the town of Moroyama, Iruma-gun, Saitama Prefecture) in 1947. Established Jingyu Kiln in 1976. His works have been selected for the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition, the Kinki Branch Exhibition, and others. 1944-maleBorn in Niigata Prefecture. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music with a major in ceramics. In 1976, he established his own kiln in Shizuoka Prefecture. He was awarded the Grand Prize at the JCDA Craft Exhibition at Ginza Matsuya, the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, and other prizes.
