1939-maleshigaraki potteryBorn in Fukuoka prefecture. Graduated from Waseda University. Studied under Shigaraki’s Tani Hosai and Masuko’s Mimura Hokudo. In 1978, he established the Asahi Ceramic Art Society in Yokohama, aiming to give creative education to new artists and the disabled, and won the Asahi Newspaper Award. Constructed an old style cellar kiln in 1986. Judge of the Kanagawa Fine Arts Association. Director of the International Modern Art Exposition. Primarily works with Yohen style. (more…)

1945-Born in Mitsuke, Niigata. Graduated from Ritsumeikan University. From 1974 to 1980, he submitted every year to the Soudeisha Exhibition. Hoshina Hajime 保科弌

1918-?maletakakura potteryBorn in Tokyo. Graduated the Japan School of Arts and Kawabata Art School. Began pursuing pottery and self-studying in 1946, and went on a pilgrimage around Japan. Using the mud from his hometown, he completed the Takakura-ware in Iruma city, Fukaya city ware, Irimaji-ware in Sayama city, and Muramatsu-ware of Gosen city, Niigata. Hoshino Masayuki 星野正幸

1949-maleBorn in Fukagawa, Tokyo. Graduated the Literature department of Sophia University. Studied and worked at Pottery Bizen Toen in 1975. Participated in his long-cherished dream, the Aioi Ogama Project led by Mori Togaku in 1979. In 1981, using the Bizen old kiln and Aioi Ogama as a reference, he constructed the direct-flame Anagama, and had his first firing the following year. Held solo exhibitions at Minami Aoyama Green G, Himeji Yamatoyashiki, Tateyama Itoya, Sendai Fujisaki, and more. Is skilful at Himozukuri string-making and light colored firing. (more…)

Furuse Gyozo 古瀬堯三

Studied under Tomimoto Kenkichi and Kondo Yuzo. In 1968, he succeeded to the name of Gyozo the Third (Akahada-ware Seventh generation Jihee). Buyo Shin 武用真

1935-malebizen potteryReal name is Shinji. Born in Kagato. The second son of Buyo Gorobee of the brewing industry. Graduated the brewing department of the Tokyo University of Agriculture. Later becomes attracted to Bizen-ware and becomes an apprentice to Fujiwara Rakuzan. Constructed a kiln in 1969 under the guidance of Fujiwara Ken. Constructed a new kiln in Bizen in 1978.
