Kato Kurin 加藤九輪

1936-maleBorn in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture. Influenced by his father, a noh chanting artist and collector of antique ceramics, he created his own pottery. Established Higurashi Kiln in Chichibu, where he won the NHK Award for his work in Chosun Karatsu, cinnabar, celadon and buckwheat glaze, and is now working on tea ceremony ceramics and waterstone basins with full glaze. Katoh Kuniya 加藤摑也

1940-maleBorn in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. Studied painting and sculpture in Kyoto and returned to his hometown. At the age of 19, his work was selected for the Nitten exhibition. Selected for the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition, Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition, Chunichi International Exhibition, and others. Oribe, Karatsu and Setoguro are his main works. Kato Kiyoyuki 加藤清之

1931-maleseto potteryBorn in Seto. His work was accepted for the first time at the Nitten exhibition in 1958. Since then, he has received many awards, including the Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition Grand Prize, the Contemporary Craft Exhibition Contemporary Craft Prize, the Nitten Special Prize, the Japan Ceramic Society Prize, the Aichi Prefecture Art Honorable Mention, and the Prime Minister’s Prize at the Japan New Craft Exhibition. Kath Kiyoshi 加藤喜代司

1947-maleshigaraki potteryBorn in Shigaraki. Graduated from the Kyoto Ceramic Art Training Institute. Studied under Kumamoto Kiichi. Awarded at the Kyo-Ten, Japan Ceramic Exhibition, Asahi Ceramic Exhibition, Chunichi International Ceramic Exhibition, and Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. 1917-?maleHe made his works in the Yatagama kiln, which is blessed with a fertile climate, using red clay with white-mishima, painted-mishima, brush-worked-mishima, Jomon earthenware style firing, and iron-rich Mukaiyama glaze. Katsura Kazumasa 桂一正

1924-2004maleHe was born in Tokyo. Established Keiraku-gama kiln in 1948. Exhibited at the National Museum of History in Taipei more than ten times and received the museum’s permanent conservation and cultural service awards. He has received many awards. Awarded the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Distinguished Service Award for his many years of achievements at the Tokyo Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
