Miyamoto Kokichi 宮本光吉

1938-malekutani porcelainGraduated from the ceramics department of Komatsu Vocational Training Institute in 1955. Studied under Tokuda Yasokichi, the current head of the family, and received the title of “Kokichi” in 1968. Awarded prizes at the Nitten Issuikai Exhibition, the Contemporary Art Exhibition, the Asian Art Exhibition, and others, and is a member of Asian Art. Created in the style of Kutani and othaers. Miyahara Shotaro 宮原昭太郎

1941-maleFrom Tokyo. Started learning painting from his father Miyahara Meiryo, a Japanese painter, around 1950. Graduated from the Faculty of Literature at Meiji University with a Major in French Literature in 1967. Studied abroad in France in 1974 to research paintings. After returning to Japan, studied under his brother-in-law Hara Kiyoshi and sought to make ceramics. Selected for the Japan Traditional Craft Art Exhibition for the first time in 1976 and selected numerous times since then. Official Member of the Japan Craft Art Society. Miyata Yutaka 宮田豊

1935-?malekozan potterybanko pottery1st generation Togetsuan Rakuo restored the old kiln for Kozan ware, which was founded in the Koka period in the edo era, in the early Showa era. Succeeded the restored Kozan ware and assumed the name of the 4th generation in 1965. Studied tea bowls under Sato Enju and studied under Tsuji Shinroku of Kyoto. Moved the kiln to Mashiko in 1967 and named it the Kozan kiln. Appointed as the Director of the Yokkaichi Maiko Ceramic Society in 1979. Selected for numerous public exhibitions and won awards. Miyashita Zenju 宮下善寿

1901-1988maleFrom Kyoto. Sought to make ceramics in 1918. Studied under Kawamura Seizan and Kusube Yaichi in 1930. Selected for the 1st Bunten Exhibition in 1937 and consecutively selected for the Bunten Exhibition and Nitten Exhibition, served as a judge and councilor, won the Prime Minister’s Award, and served as an advisor. Won the Kyoto Prefectural Craft and Fine Art Award. Won the Kyoto Municipal Cultural Merit Award in 1982. Exhibited as a representative of Japan at the United States Expo, held international exhibitions, and served as a judge for numerous local exhibitions. Works focus on Hakusuiji and Jun ware. (more…)

Won the Japan Contemporary Craft Art Exhibition Foreign Minister’s Award. Won the Kyoto Craft Art New Artist Award. Won the Create Tomorrow New Craft Art Exhibition Grand Prize.
