Murakoshi Fugetsu 3rd 三代 村越風月

1950-maletokoname potteryBorn in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture. In 1965, he studied under Yamada Jozan. Awarded a prize at the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition, the Tokai Traditional Craft Exhibition, the Chunichi International Ceramic Art Exhibition, and the Choza Prize Ceramic Art Exhibition. Exhibited at the Modern Sencha Tea Utensils Exhibition, Yamada Jozan’s Family Exhibition, Selected Artist Kyusu Exhibition, and others. He is a member of the Tokai Branch of the Japan Art Crafts Association and the Tokoname Tezukuri Kyusu Association. He makes tea utensils with unglazed or scorched surface coloring, mainly in a red clay kyusu tea pot. (more…)

Muraki Asashi 村木朝司

1923-?maleBorn in Shizuoka Prefecture. Graduated from Nihon University. Studied under Ezaki Issei in Tokoname. Awarded a prize at the New Japanese Traditional Crafts Exhibition, Musashino Exhibition, and others. Published “Togei Nyomon” (Shufutoseikatsu-sha Co.) and “Tsuchi Asobi” (Hoshinowa-kai Co.). Member of Toen Association, Sagami Craft Association, and Kanagawa Prefecture Ceramic Society. He is a professor at the ceramic course of Joetsu University of Education. (more…)

1935-2007maleBorn in Tokyo and graduated from Kyoto Art University. Studied under Tomimoto Kenkichi and Kondo Yuzo. Member of the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition, Honorable Mention, and Director. President’s Award of the Japan Ceramic Society at the International Ceramics Exhibition, the Korean Embassy Award, and a member of the Japan Ceramic Society. Awarded prizes at the All Kansai Exhibition, Daiichi Art Exhibition, Shinshoukai, Issuikai, Sangiikai, Shinkyo Exhibition, and others. Exhibited at the Exhibition of Japanese Craft Excellence in Denmark and other foreign countries. Member of the Association of University Art Education and Professor at Naruto University of Education. Okamura Yoshihiro 村岡良寛

1948-maleIn 1979, he opened a pottery studio Saramumu Iimure-gama in Hioki-gun, Kagashima Prefecture. Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kyushu Sangyo University. Studied under Otsuka Isamu of Kyoto Sumiyama and Kawashima Kozo of Sodeisha before setting up on his own. Winning prizes at the Kagoshima Ceramics Exhibition, the Minami Nippon Biennial, the Kyoto Craft Exhibition, the Seibu Craft Exhibition, and the Kyushu Yamaguchi Exhibition. Munamasa Yoshiaki 宗正芳明

1939-?malekasama potteryBorn in Hiroshima Prefecture. Graduated from Tokai University and Tokyo Institute of Technology. Trained for Korean pottery style at Rakuzan-gama kiln in Yokkaichi, and later moved to Kasama, Ibaraki Prefecture. Muto Yuji 武藤雄二

1955-maleGraduated from Tokyo Designer Gakuin. Apprenticed at Mashiko Daigen-gama kiln and Iga Nishiyama Kilns, and hatsugama (first fire work at the kiln in the year) in 1980 at Hitachi Kiln in Tokofukuji, Ibaraki. Won a prize at the Shin-Keishusha exhibition and was a member of the Society. Awarded a prize at the Kanagawa Prefectural Exhibition. Member of the Kanagawa Prefecture Art Association. Mukuhara Kashun 椋原佳俊

1949-malehagi potteryBorn in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1967, studied under Kaneda Kaen, a potter of Hagi ware, and established his own kiln in 1974. Awarded at the Municipal Exhibition, Yamaguchi Prefecture Exhibition, Kyushu-Yamaguchi Exhibition, and Issuikai Exhibition. Solo exhibitions at Akasaka G, Shibuya Tokyu, Osaka and Kobe. Mukunoki Shunsui 椋木英三

1942-malePen name is Mukunoki Sunsui. Born in Masuda City, Shimane Prefecture. Studied under Kawai Kanjiro, Takekazu and Hirotsugu in 1958. On November 18, 1966, on the death of Kanjiro, he entered into mourning. He resumed his work in 1968 and built a climbing kiln in 1974 in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture. Selected for the Nihon Mingeikan Exhibition and the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, among others. Solo exhibitions at Kyoto Daimaru and other venues. His works are mainly celadon, white porcelain, cinnabar, cinnabar, glaze and neriage. (more…)

Miyoshi Kentaro 三好建太郎

1953-maleechizen potteryBorn in Sapporo City. Studied under Tokuzawa Moritoshi , Karatsu ware master from 1975. He built Tenjinmori kiln in Takefushi, Fukui Prefecture. In the following year, he built a sectioned bamboo style kiln. He aims to create Echizen Karatsu ware, one of the six old medieval kilns, fired in the sectioned bamboo style kiln using the new Karatsu ceramic technique. Selected for the 1st Japan New Craft Exhibition. Awarded a prize at the Modern Echizen Pottery Exhibition and the Prefectural New Artist Selection Exhibition. Solo exhibition at Yokohama Takashimaya. Won prizes at the Nitten, Ishikawa Prefectural Exhibition, Toto Exhibition, Nippu Exhibition, Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, and others. Awarded the Komatsu Mayor’s Prize. Awarded the Hokkoku Newspaper Award. Awarded the Kutani New Work Exhibition Prize. Honorable Mention at the Ishikawa Traditional Craft Exhibition. Award for Meritorious Service to Traditional Industry in Ishikawa Prefecture, and many others.
