After training in pottery making techniques at Mushiake-gama-kiln and Ako-yaki-gama-kilns in Okayama Prefecture, he opened a kiln under the name Zanmuken in the ruins of an old Korakuen kiln in 1907, and revived Korakuen ware by producing works in the style of Raku ware.
