His father is Mitsugu, the third generation of Tokuyama kiln. He studied under Mukoshi Zentaro and Yoshida Katsuyama. In 1968, he established his own kiln in Tokuyama, Tatsunokuchi-cho, and succeeded by four generations. His works are mainly based on the new style of Kutani uro-e with iron glaze, celadon glaze, copper glaze and oil drop tenmoku.
