Born in Inbe, Bizen City. Graduated from Okayama Technical School. Joined Mitsubishi Airlines, served in the military, was demobilized post-war and joined a brick company. Resigned from the company in 1963 and aimed to produce Bizen ware. In the following year, he built a kiln and became independent. As he desired old Bizen ware, he made many pots.
