Born in Gunma Prefecture. Inherited the family business and aspired to make pottery.
Graduated from Kanazawa Art University.Studied glazing at the Kyoto National Ceramic Research Institute. Later, he established Nanunryu Ceramic Research Institute.
In 1963, his work was entered into the Nitten Exhibition. Thereafter, awarded the Nitten Special Prize, and was a part of the selecting committee, commission, and judge.
He has received the Japan Contemporary Industrial Arts and Crafts Exhibition Craft Award, the Yomiuri Newspaper Award and was a member and judge. Awarded many prizes including the Toto Award and the Idemitsu Award. Judged at the Kanagawa and Gunma prefectural exhibitions and the Fuji Biennale. Crafted ceramic walls at Yamanashi Prefectural Cultural Hall, Shibukawa City Library among others. President of the Fuji Zokei Cultural Agency. Ceramic walls, objets.
