He was born in Osaka. His father is Kazukei, kettle maker. Graduated from Kyoto Art University. Studied under Kondo Yuzo and Kiyomizu Kyubei. Became independent in 1982. Won prizes at the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition and other competitions. His works are mainly white porcelain, blue-and-white porcelain, and crimson under the glaze. A regular member of the Japan Industrial Arts Association.
