Tsuri Mitsuho was born in Hyogo, Japan, graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts in 2014 with a B.F.A. in Ceramics, Crafts, Kyoto City University of Arts, M.F.A. in 2004, and joined Utatsuyama Craft Studio in Kanazawa, Japan in 2005. He observes the containers he sees in the everyday world and transforms them into unique woven ceramic “vessels. Through vessels that have no use as containers, his works question the concept of containers. Major solo exhibitions include “Utsuwa no specimen” (KUNST ARZT, Kyoto, 2016), and group exhibitions include “Rumpalumpa Kanazawa Newly arrived Art&Craft 2017” (Aoyama Spiral, Tokyo). He received the NHK Kanazawa Broadcasting Station Director’s Prize (2019) at the Kanazawa City Craft Exhibition, and the Utatsuyama Craft Workshop Prize (2019) at the Kanazawa Utatsuyama Craft Workshop Trainees’ Works Exhibition.
