Born as the eldest son of Shomura Ken

1997 Graduated from Kumamoto Institute of Technology (now Sojo University), Department of Industrial Chemistry.

1999 Graduated from Saga Prefectural Arita Pottery College. After working as a commissioned worker at the school for two years, he started to make pottery at Banka Kiln.

2001 Awarded Fine Work Prize at Saga Art Association Exhibition.

2002 Exhibited for the first time at the ISSUISUI-KAI Ceramic Art Exhibition, and won the ISSUISUIKAI Prize (the highest prize).

2004 Selected for the first time at the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition. Awarded the KAB Kumamoto Asahi Broadcasting Prize at the Western Craft Exhibition. Awarded the Bikyo Prize at the Saga Art Association Exhibition (the highest prize).

2005 Received the Okinawa Prefectural Governor’s Prize at the Seibu Craft Exhibition.

2006 Received the NCC Nagasaki Bunka Hoso Award at the Seibu Craft Exhibition.

2007 Awarded the Encouragement Prize at the Seibu Craft Exhibition and the Fukuoka Mitsukoshi Prize.

2009 Exhibited at the Kyushu National Museum, “Craft Today: Tradition and Creation. 2009 Exhibited at Kyushu National Museum, “Craft Now: Tradition and Creation”, and held a special exhibition in Meissen, Germany. 2009 NHK BS-2 “Vessel Dream Studio” broadcasted. Awarded the highest prize at the ISSUISU-KAI Ceramic Art Exhibition

2010 Nishi Nihon Ceramic Art Biennale, Oita Prefecture Governor Prize / Excellence Prize

2011 The 20th Saga Bank Cultural Foundation Newcomer Prize Awarded the Japan Kogei Association Encouragement Prize at the 58th Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition. Awarded the Saga Prefectural Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Prize at the Kyushu-Yamaguchi Ceramic Art Exhibition. Exhibition at Japanese Cuisine “Mai”, The Westin Hotel Tokyo

2012 Awarded the Prize of Saga Ceramic Society, Saga Prefectural Exhibition, Japan.

2013 HERITAGE2013, Asia Week New York, New York (for three consecutive years). Selected for Kikuchi Biennial Exhibition. Awarded the QAB Ryukyu Asahi Broadcasting Award at the Western Traditional Craft Exhibition. Exhibition at Mai, Japanese Cuisine, The Westin Hotel, Tokyo. Selected for the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition.

2014 Exhibition at the Embassy of Japan in Washington D.C. Awarded the Asahi Newspaper Grand Prize at the 49th Western Traditional Craft Exhibition.

2016 Awarded the Asahi Culture Center Prize at the Western Traditional Craft Exhibition. Received the Judge’s Special Prize at the Hagi Grand Prize Exhibition IV of the Present Form of Ceramics. The Westin Hotel Tokyo Japanese Cuisine “Mai” Special Exhibition
