Born in Iga-Ueno. He switched from Western-style painting to Iga pottery in 1946, studying under Komori Shinobu and Hineno Sakuzo.He studied under Komori Shinobu and Hineno Sakuzo, and in 1960, when his entry in the Nitten exhibition was cancelled a few days after it was announced that it had been selected, he began to question the group exhibition. Since then, he has been unaffiliated. Since 1963, he has held exhibitions of abstract ceramic paintings, tea ceremony ceramics in Iga ware, and father and son exhibitions with his eldest son, Kei, and second son, Yo, at major locations throughout Japan. He has also been active in researching and collecting old Iga and Shigaraki ceramics.
