Born in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Graduated from Kudamatsu High School. After working as a secretary to the president of a transportation company, she married Tanabe Kiyomi, a painter belonging to the Niki-kai. In 1979, she decided to study ceramics and joined a ceramics course at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Museum of Art. Studied under Yamato Yasuo. She received a special commemorative award at the 45th anniversary exhibition of Tokuyama City. She makes tea bowls and Sculpture using Hagi-Daido clay and Shigaraki clay.
